Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, also known as video surveillance, are the use of video cameras to transmit signals to a particular place, on a limited set of monitors. CCTV differs from television broadcasts because it cannot be transmitted openly, although it may use point-to-point (P2P), point-to-multipoint (P2MP), or wired or wireless links. Although almost all video cameras meet this definition, the term is most often applied to those used for surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as banks, shops, and other areas where security is needed.
